Ames Lock & Security — Locksmith · Ames, IA

Ames Lock & Security is a staffed locksmith shop at 507 Main St in downtown Ames — Story County's longest established lock service, founded in 1982. Its record carries a 4.4-star rating, and unlike the self-serve key kiosks inside the big-box stores, this is a real storefront with locksmiths who cut keys, re-key locks, and open safes.

Verified services include lock installation and repair, key cutting, re-keying, and lockout help, with safe deposit box services, vehicle transponder keys, vehicle unlocks, and safes opened among its offerings. Access control work covers the commercial side — offices, rental properties, and campus-area buildings that need master key systems or controlled entry rather than a copied key from a machine.

The shop is at 507 Main St, Ames, IA, open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM. Call •••-•••-•••• or visit https://ameslock.com/ for lockouts, re-keying, or key cutting.
